Configure the settings
- Connect your servo drives and I/O modules to your computer.
- Click Start
> KINGSTAR Runtime > KINGSTAR Configuration Tool to start KINGSTAR Configuration Tool, a "Connect to KINGSTAR Runtime" dialog box appears. -
On the "Connect to KINGSTAR Runtime" dialog box, click Connect to local (this only appears if the computer has Runtime installed) if you want to connect the Configuration Tool to the local Runtime; or click Connect to remote Runtime if you want to connect the Configuration Tool to the remote Runtime. If you are connecting to the remote Runtime, fill in the username of that remote computer, select the user role and fill in the password, then click Connect.

NOTE: The Instance input box only appears if you have created instances on the General Settings page of KINGSTAR Control Panel. You can input an instance ID to launch the Configuration Tool. The selected instance ID will be displayed on the title bar of the Configuration Tool.
- On the Startup page, click New project.
- In Connection Settings, configure the settings for your servo drive. You need to change these settings:
- Cycle time: the cycle time for the EtherCAT network.
- Supported access mode: sets the data transfer mode for EtherCAT drives.
- Click Connect to link your computer and servo drive. Read the information displayed in the popped RtxServer window to ensure the connection is successful. If it's not, start the link again. You must connect first, and then you can switch to the Device configuration page.
- After the connection is established, find the Device configuration to start tuning your machine.
NOTE: If you don't have real axes or I/O modules, enter values in the Required axes and Required IOs boxes to use simulated axes and I/O modules.
